Research & Information
The League's most requested service is information. With direct access to the League via toll-free phone or e-mail, members can leverage the experience of peers and present questions to the League that may have been successfully answered at another institution.

Management Surveys
A management survey is an in-depth look at a credit union's total operation, including a complete financial analysis, plus review of all policies on loans, shares, collections, personnel administration, and investments. A review of marketing, member services, facilities, security, data processing, and personnel training is also performed. Survey conclusions are presented confidentially in a report to the board of directors by one or more League staff members.

Planning
The League offers a variety of models to assist credit unions' planning processes. Plans range from basic one-year plans to three-year strategic plans. Models can be customized by credit union. Costs for facilitation by formally-trained League staff are for materials and expenses only. Special planning meetings are also available in various formats.

Human Resources
Our member credit unions have access to a full range of personnel services. Among them are consultative assistance for implementation of personnel policy manuals, design of evaluation systems, and employment hiring. Our plans and programs include:

  • Salary Administration
  • Performance Management
  • Employee Satisfaction Surveys
  • Benefits Analysis
  • Affirmative Action Plans
  • Incentive Plans

Human resources management is a top priority as well. We offer management training to instruct staff on methods and procedures, and to assist in implementation and maintenace of programs. Our approach to each credit union is customized based on needs.

Personnel Recruitment
The League retains applications and resumes from various sources and provides them upon request. We also maintain a listing of open positions at credit unions, and are available to draft and place advertisements, sort resumes, and assist with the interviewing process. Contact Susanne Witteborg (switteborg@sccul.org) for assistance with these tasks.

Problem Assistance
When credit unions experience problems with bookkeeping, the loss of key personnel, or influences outside of the credit union's control, the League is a ready source of help. Solutions are tailored to each condition and may include advice or referral to qualified consultants. The main objective is the correct the problem as quicky and effectively as possible.

Lending Strategies and Support
In today's rising-rate environment, many credit unions are in need of perspectives and strategies to help them build loan volume. Also, they can enhance service to higher-risk and underserved individuals by learning effective techniques used by peers. Click here for information and programs related to credit union lending.

Youth Education and Services
For years, youth performance on national surveys of fiscal knowledge has remained at a "failing" grade (Jump$tart Coalition, 2006). At the same time, credit unions' average member age is trending upward, now at 47 from 41 in 1967. Also, the technology of financial services and younger generations' expecations have changed.

A wealth of resources are available for credit unions focused on strengthening financial knowledge among all youth and on providing young potential members choices for building a solid financial future. Find out more here.
